Business Resource and Innovation Center

Location: at their Parkway Central Branch (near the Drexel Shuttle stop at Hahnemann).

The BRIC is an excellent resource for Drexel students and alumni pursuing an entrepreneurial path.  In addition to some databases that Drexel University Libraries does not subscribe to, the BRIC holds events, and has dedicated space for rehearsing pitches (Pitch Corner)

Here are more details:

BRIC website: https://libwww.freelibrary.org/programs/bric/

(notice separate links for “Business,” “Nonprofit,” (which links to details about the Library’s Regional Foundation Center) and “Patents & Trademarks” (which links to details about the Library’s Patent & Trademark Resource Center)

At the bottom of each of the individual pages (Business/Nonprofit/Patents & Trademarks), there’s an icon for signing up for the group’s newsletter. The newsletter is an easy way to learn about upcoming events for each group.

BRIC has a dedicated team of librarians who I’ve met with and they have asked me to spread the word that they are eager to assist Drexel students and alumni. There is also a dedicated Patents & Trademarks Librarian, who could be another valuable resource for Drexel’s entrepreneurs.

Best of all:

A Free Library card is available at no cost to anyone who lives, works, pays taxes, or goes to school in the City of Philadelphia. In addition, anyone who lives in the state of Pennsylvania can obtain a Free Library card without charge.  (So, all Drexel students, faculty, and staff can get a Free Library card at no charge. I applied online and am now a frequent user of their databases.) Here’s a link to apply for a library card: https://know.freelibrary.org/MyResearch/register/card
